5 Wizkid And Davido Hit Songs Written By Other Artists

Here are 5 songs of Wizkid and 5 songs of Davido you probably didn’t know were written by other artists.

Davido is more known for performing songs written for him than Wizkid is. Davido, clearly not shy about getting songs from others, has, on many public occasions, showered his writers with kind words.

To cite an example—in an interview on the television show personality Ebuka’s podcast, Davido sent flowers to Tekno for “bringing” his career back after one hitless year.

According to the story, Tekno had written and produced and even recorded “If” when he considered Davido would do it justice and gave it up.

Wizkid, on the other hand, doesn’t talk about it (and that’s fine), but he also has put out songs he co-wrote, like Davido, with other writers.

Davido’s Songs Written by Others

1. “If”

Tekno, as explained before in this article, penned “If” by Davido. He also produced it. “If” turned a big hit home and abroad in 2017 and put Davido up again after a helpless year of music silence.

2. “Fia”

Having scored a comeback with Tekno-assisted “If,” Davido doubled up with the Peruzzi-assisted “Fia” and emerged top artist of that year. His 2018 BET for Best International Act is a testament to the incredible season he had.

3. “Assurance”

Going back to 2017/18 again—Davido dedicated a Porsche and an “Assurance” to his then girlfriend (now wife) Chioma Rowland. But Davido had co-written the song with Peruzzi.

4. “Fall”

Arguably, Davido’s biggest hit is “Fall.” It is his first RIAA gold- and platinum-certified song. And it was co-written and produced by Kiddominant.

5. “Unavailable”

Davido was unavailable as a writer in this one. This song was written by Peruzzi and Davido’s 2023 signee Logos Olori. “Unavailable” is the biggest song from the record-setting and -breaking “Timeless” album. So the writers definitely did a fine job.

Wizkid’s Songs Written by Others

1. “Steady”

From the deluxe edition of Made In Lagos, often shortened MIL instead, “Steady” drew its first breaths in the studio of the RnB singer-songwriter-producer Tay Iwar. Before working on, he had featured on “True Love,” along with Projexx, off the original edition; and he might’ve written the song too.

2. “Deep”

Tay Iwar might be to Wizkid the person Peruzzi is to Davido, except for a few differences, such as Tay Iwar having never been signed by Wizkid, and Peruzzi having never written an RnB song for Davido. “Deep,” off the “More Love, Less Ego” album, was written by Tay Iwar.

3. “Frames”

Watched the American movie Let It Shine? Austin Iornongu Iwar (Tay Iwar’s real name) is the guy in the movie who let his friend shines through his intellectual materials. The difference, though, is Wizkid actually sings the songs!

4. “Wiz Party”

Skales–Wizkid’s live-in label mate at EME Records a long time ago–claimed writing “Wiz Party,” a bonus freestyle on the revered “Superstar” album. What’s most interesting about this song is its being a hit even without a second verse.

5. “Baba Nla”

In the bubbling year for Afrobeats (2015), Wizkid clashed with Dammy Krane over song theft. Dammy Krane claimed he wrote the song for Wizkid during a drunk visit to his (Wizkid’s) house. The cyber exchange would lead into a physical assault on Dammy Krane in the club.
