Paul Pogba: How Did We Get Here? Everything You Need To Know

Paul Pogba has been banned for using performance enhancing drug.

The World Anti-Doping Code stipulates that a four-year penalty is the typical duration. Paul Pogba, a midfield player for Juventus, tested positive for DHEA in August. Pogba will challenge the sentence at the Court of Arbitration of Sport.

Pogba’s suspension began on the day he tested positive, and it will last until August 2027. It’s unclear if his career will continue when the suspension ends because he would be 34 years old.

Pogba will file an appeal against this ruling with the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, according to Sky Sports in Italy. If Pogba decides to appeal the decision to CAS, WADA will do the same. The Swiss courts might render a final decision. Juventus has not released a statement.

Following Juventus’ August 20 match against Udinese, the 30-year-old player for Juventus was found to have testosterone metabolites in August of last year. As a precaution, the player was suspended in September of 2023. The France international sat on the Juventus bench but did not participate in the Serie A encounter.

Before his ban was made public, he went on to make substitute appearances for Juventus in their matches against Bologna on August 27 and Empoli on September 3.

In October, Sky Sports News revealed that Pogba will battle to clean his record following a positive test for the hormone dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), which is a substance that stimulates the body’s synthesis of hormones, including testosterone. Rafaela Pimenta, Pogba’s representative, emphasized that “Paul never wanted to break the rules”.
