Portable To Remain in Police Custody For Failing To Produce Reliable Surety
Nigerian artist Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, will remain in the police cells as he failed to produce a reliable surety for his bail.
On Tuesday (May 14), the 30-year-old “Zazuu” hit wonder was arrested for a debt of N14 million he had allegedly refused to pay. The debt, he incurred when purchasing his G-Wagon from a car dealer in Lagos State.
When confronted by the police, the singer attempted to escape by jumping over a gate but was eventually apprehended.
As stated by Benjamin Hudenyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, the singer will remain in detention until he is able to provide a reliable surety who can guarantee his appearance in court, thus enabling him to be granted bail.
Hundeyin said: “He has presented no reliable surety yet so he (Portable) is still with us.”
