Tems Makes History As Highest Charting Nigerian Female Artist On Billboard 200

Nigerian singer Tems has set a record as the highest charting Nigerian female artist on the Billboard 200.

Tems, who just unveiled her debut album “Born in the Wild,” soared high this week on the Billboard 200 (US chart for Top Albums) with her album charting at 56 position.

According to a report by Chart Data on X, Tems is the highest charting Nigerian female artist ever on the chart.

Tems joins other Nigerian artists of who have etched their names in the records of Billboard 200. Rema, Sunny Ade, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Asake, Ayra Starr–these Nigerians all have proud records with Billboard 200.

Ayra Starr is another female Nigerian artist, like Tems, setting big records in the male-dominated industry. The other time, Ayra Starr made history as the first Nigerian female singer to debut on the Billboard 200, with her sophomore album “The Year I Turned 21.”
